Laundry Room Carbon....

I've long had this theory that my carbon gives colors because I keep it in the laudry room, just sitting in a bowl absorbing all the smells in the laundry room.  I also occassionally keep it next to the cat litter...absorbing whatever...LOL.  I've had two people e-mail so far to say they are getting colors since they moved their carbon to the laundry room or next to their cat litter.  Carbon absorbs and when it gets fired it puts all that it absorbs into the firing.....at least that's my theory.

Here are some of the pieces I fired this weekend.

All polished up.....

I love your work Gail. Bronze has always been very fickle for me, I sometimes get blistering and pieces that aren't sintered in the same container. I've been working with copper mostly for some time because it's so much more consistent. But I love your bronze, I might have to have another go at it.

Do you use the firing schedule in the package or have you tweaked it? Do you take the bronze out of the carbon before it's completely cooled? THANKS!!

Ab Fab! That does it...I'm moving my carbon to the laundry room which happens to be where the litter box is!

Thanks Girls!! Kristi...I ramp at 250 up to 1516 and hold for 3.50 hours. I use a lower temp because I had blistering up above that point. Each kiln is different so you might be able to fire to a higher temp.
